Businesses affected by violence and vandalism in Pinetown CBD

"I would like to bring to the attention of the police that where my premises is situated, on the corner of Old Main Road and Anderson Street, has become notorious with gang fights."

BUSINESSES in the Pinetown area tired of the violence and vandalism in the Pinetown CBD as it is affecting our trading.

I would like to bring to the attention of the police that where my premises is situated, on the corner of Old Main Road and Anderson Street, has become notorious with gang fights.

The latest incident occurred on Friday, 22 June at about 10.45am when a rock was thrown at my shop window during a confrontation between two gang groups.

I earnestly request the police to kindly assist and station a few of their motorbikes there and do regular patrols in this area.

Kindly also assist so there are more Metro police on duty directing the flow of traffic in Anderson and Stanfield Lane, as traffic here is always at a standstill at peak hours with no assistance from Metro. And, as a result, innocent people become soft targets to robbery and vandalism.

During peak hours it is very difficult to exit your business premises and get on to the main road.

Furthermore, I would like to point out that the Olympic buses stop for passengers in front of my business parking exit and, as a result, we are jammed

for very long periods of time.

Metro police should be assisting to ensure motorists stick to the rules of the road and keep the traffic moving.

Thanking you and hoping that police will give these problems their urgent attention.
