Foul odour lingers in air at Mariannhill Park

"Does the eThekwini Municipality have environmentalists who can assist in sorting out the problem."

I READ Mr Buckley’s letter, Breath of dreaded Hillcrest Pong assaults senses in the Highway Mail dated 12 January, and could only imagine what he was going through.

Having invested in a retirement village at quite a cost, one would expect to at least breathe in fresh air without having to subject oneself to inhaling a foul odour emitted from the landfill site.

We, too, in Marriannhill Park have a similar problem. It is now summer but we cannot open our windows because of the foul odour we have to contend with from the Mariannhill Landfill site.

No one seems to know when this problem will be resolved and I can only hope it will be soon.

Living with a foul smell permeating the air on a daily basis has become unbearable.

Does eThekwini Municipality have environmentalists who can assist in sorting out the problem?

We also want to know if it will be resolved and if so, when?

We invested by buying property in this area in 2000 but due to the air pollution problem, we may have to consider relocating.
