Telkom lines down again

"It is sad that a complete continent is labelled as sub-standard and Telkom and the government simply re-enforce this negative image every day."

YESTERDAY, Wednesday 22 November, and yet another day without telephone or internet connections.

I have now lost count of the number of times that the Telkom system has been down this year, so I contacted my daughter who has been living in the UK for 17 years, and she advised me that she has never experienced a single problem with telephone connectivity.

I believe that Telkom should put their pride in their pockets and employ, on a contractual basis, telecommunication experts from overseas to train their people.

In the global economy that we now all operate in, efficient and reliable communication systems are vital if we are to be competitive.

As an example, yesterday I was unable to send out a quote on an export inquiry to my partner in the USA.

I sent an apology today and I received a short anagram in reply – TIA.

This is Africa.

It is sad that a complete continent is labelled as sub-standard and Telkom and the government simply re-enforce this negative image every day.
