Who is Kloof’s ‘Rasta’?

"Can someone from one of the businesses in the vicinity or the management of the shopping centres please alert social welfare."

WHO is the dishevelled man who has been sitting day in, day out in the bush behind Hussars in Kloof?

He does not speak or actively beg, just sits in the lane that runs between Kloof Village Mall and Fields Centre.

He is in an appalling state with filthy tattered clothes.

If people give him food, he stands up and claps his hands to say thank you.

He does not appear to be drunk.

Staff at the shops tell me he is called Rasta and is a smart man but they do not know if he has family.

Judging by his appearance he has nowhere to sleep either.

I don’t know if he perhaps has a psychiatric problem, but he certainly could do with a grant and some proper care.

It is sad that he has to live like this.

Can someone from one of the businesses in the vicinity or the management of the shopping centres please alert social welfare to at least come and assess the situation? They will be in a position to see when he arrives there.

He needs a hand.
