Crime pays, people helpless

"Well, life will go on in a country were crime is credited for creating jobs."

IT was a perfect trap and crime combating agencies were notified and begged to come and take a hardened criminal plying his nightly terrorism for far too long.

SAPS visited the crime scene, took statements, was shown where larger size loot was hidden and offered the trap scenario.

Their response was, “We go off duty at 6pm but will see what we can do” .

They wrote, “Goods found and returned to owner”.

All other crime reaction units requested the CAS number and for that it was a long wait.

So night came with no back-up and with phones on voice mail.

And, as expected a car did roll up (the criminal probably got a buddy to drive him and the buddy was not going to wait for midnight or early morning).

And when they arrived there were no SAPS, not even one of those 100 security bakkies here to jump to the moment.

So we had to watch in silence how a blue BMW 3 series with a smashed windscreen sped off at revs that drew neighbours to their fortress gates.

Well, life will go on in a country where crime is credited for creating jobs, where honoured citizens will continue to perish in alarming numbers or be lucky to fortify their property further in hope of peaceful sleep.

Very concerned citizen
