Put signs up everywhere

Reader responds to an old letter calling on additional speed limit signs to be placed along Field's Hill.

EDITOR – I was a little puzzled by the letter from Lynda, complaining that “It is simply not legal to trap unsuspecting motorists.”

The motorists are not unsuspecting, or they shouldn’t be, if they know the traffic rules. She says there are no speed signs from the top of Field’s Hill until way after the St John ‘s turnoff. This means that the speed limit is 80km p/h all the way. There has been a sign stating the speed limit, so that is what speed limit remains at until there is another sign. Perhaps she feels that there should be signs every couple of hundred metres for those motorists with very short memories?
