Come and see what my business is about

Letter to the Editor - week ending 26 August 2016.

Moyito Lounge’s owner, Nhlakanipho Dlamini, responds

My lounge, as far as I know, operates from a certain time till late (2am) of which I am lawfully entitled to as I run a licensed entity.

I am unsure as to where the music in the afternoon may have come from since my DJs only play music from 8pm onwards. Just bear in mind my lounge is by a parking lot and people on numerous accounts park there and some do see it as a chill spot and play music, on which on numerous occasions I’ve had to chase away as it also adds as a negative externality to my business and surroundings. Unfortunately I can’t have complete control on what people outside my lounge do. As a businessman I try by all means to limit costs, for example the cost of electricity.

My question also is, how is it possible that you hear people screaming and shouting, if the volume is on full blast like you say and, with windows in your house rattling?

With the blasting music and the rattling windows – I have a zinc roof, sound travels and reflects which will also affect my customers and I as well. There is no logic as to how I’d compromise my business in that sense.

If you so interested in finding out how I run my lounge, feel free to come see it for yourself just so you no longer have to wonder. Show support instead of trying to tarnish me and my lounge, when you’ve never even been inside, I provide a suitable and comfortable space for my customers. It’s a legitimate business which was inspected and continues to be done as far as health and safety is concerned. So its highly impossible that they would have approved my lounge to operate, as it would not comply with the SABS standards.

As far as compassion is concerned I put my number in the newspaper so people are able to contact me. I don’t ignore phone calls especially because it might be a business or important phone call but yes I’m a very busy man running different trades of business and do get caught up in meetings and if you were to leave a message, as urgent as you say the matter is, I’d surely get back to you ASAP.

To show my compassion I’ve also went about getting you the Pinetown SAPS contact details which is 031-3255080. I hope that is compassionate enough for you.

I can see you are trying to take a jab at me and my business and this is really concerning as it does impact on my bread and butter. As a grown man I do hope we can form solid ground and find a way forward.
