Urgent action needs to be taken

Letter to the Editor - week ending 29 July 2016.

EDITOR – With reference to State of Pinetown is a disgrace, week ending 22 July 2016. We can forget about ever having a city that is clean and picturesque.

A Pinetown-based company resurfaced Forrest Road more than five weeks ago and dumped their tar debris along both sides of the road with little regard whatsoever for the discomfort to pedestrians and the insult to ratepayers. They left huge heaps of the debris at the robots by Gelofte Skool and on the corner by the bridge over the freeway. Despite the promise on 14 July to clean up, we presently still have this mess.

Our ward councillor has not provided feedback from his promise of two weeks ago to do something about it, and neither has the municipality been able to get this company to show any signs of life. The company is probably more concerned with the additional cost the clean up will entail – a job which should have been done while they had their workmen on site.
