EDITOR – On the evening of 18 March at 7.16pm, the security guard at the recycling centre in Hillcrest witnessed the illegal dumping of tyres and wood at the site in Delamore Road.
This was also captured on the security camera, but as it was dark the registration number could not be identified. However, the security guard noted the registration number and the make of the car, which was traced to a resident in an upmarket gated complex in Hillcrest. The details are in the possession of the SAPS.
The association intends to follow up with SAPS and the authorities at the municipality on this matter of illegal dumping.
The association appeals to residents, visitors and business owners to respect the site. The site is not run or managed by the municipality but by volunteers of the Keep Hillcrest Beautiful Association. Do not abuse it, please.
