Geese get rent-free accommodation

"After we rescued them, they immediately settled in our pool and have been at home there since."

EDITOR – We have a pair of Egyptian geese living in the Roosfontein Nature Reserve adjoining my property. On Monday morning, 11 January, they were extremely agitated and we found their goslings on our side of the fence. After we rescued them, they immediately settled in our pool and have been at home there since.

As they are so adorable, we had to remove the safety pool net and allow them rent-free accommodation. And now no one is allowed to swim. The male goose attacks anyone who comes too near.

Can anyone please tell me what their behaviour will be from now on? Are they staying until the goslings can fly? Can anyone please advise. We have asked CROW to come and remove them because we first feared for their safety from the neighbours’ cats and dogs, but the goose is better than a Rottweiler – it is too wonderful how he protects mommy and the brood.
