Monkeys cause havoc

"I am 80 years old and I will use a broom or whatever is handy to defend myself, and my employee has been told to do the same."

EDITOR – I agree completely with F Dawson’s comments in last week’s Highway Mail regarding the domestic worker and the monkey.

Myself and my domestic worker have also been aggressively threatened by a monkey inside the house, where it habitually causes havoc in the kitchen.

I am 80 years old and I will use a broom or whatever is handy to defend myself, and my employee has been told to do the same.

Before the incident of the wounded monkey, I contacted Monkey Helpline by e-mail with details of my particular situation: I have a cat, and the house cannot be completely closed up.

Outside, the monkeys cause frequent damage to our birdfeeders and other garden features.

Monkey Helpline acknowledged my correspondence, but did not respond to my plea for suggestions on how I should deal with the monkeys.

It is not helpful to placate invaded homeowners by saying the monkeys were here first. How far back must we go? The dinosaurs were here before monkeys.
