EDITOR – I would like to reply to the letter ‘Disillusioned Westville’ in the 1 May edition of the Highway Mail and confirm everything stated.

Westville’s maintenance of roads, sidewalks and residential verges is a mess. I know I am not the only other Westville resident frustrated with the deterioration of our beautiful suburb – it just takes us to voice our concerns for, hopefully, someone in authority to take heed and get things done.

We all pay rates and taxes, so come on, Westville residents – let’s back up ‘Disillusioned Westville’: more letters written, more statements of concern in the Highway Mail. Let’s get together and start something going here instead of just complaining in our homes, in our cars and to each other, to no avail.

Who is our local councillor? Kindly take note: help us please to tidy up and repair the general condition of Westville and restore it to the beautiful suburb we love so that we can be proud of it again.

I would also like to mention that every week I drive down the Blair Athol Road, now called Roger Sishi Road, and many of the overhead lights are switched on and shining brightly in the middle of the day. Load shedding is for everyone, is it not? Please, authorities, do something about it. I have phoned the relevant department to report these lights a couple of times, obviously to no avail.
