Case of the ex: The cyberstalker

Post your opinions in the comment box below...

MONTHS after a relationship has come to an end, what do you do (and more importantly, what does it mean) when the ex decides to start following you on social media?

Let’s face it, we’ve all been through the heartbreaks of a relationship and months, sometimes days, after it ends curiosity gets the better of us and we go on a little stalk of our own to see what they’ve been up to.

Sometimes we are suckers for punishment and don’t find what we’re looking for when we see that the other one has moved on before you.

In other instances you notice they are feeling sorry for themselves and it gives you a gratifying smirk and an extra spring in your step for the rest of the day. As sadistic as it may seem, we all know that it is true.

Today’s social media has made it is easier for people to connect – even after the relationship is long over.

A classic example of this was in That Awkward Moment, when Zac Efron’s character, Jason, is seen trawling through his ex’s Facebook page weeks after their relationship had drawn to an abrupt close.

Now the question is, what do you do when a quick stalk turns into attempting to follow an old flame on social media?

What are your opinions on this and what do you think the reasons are behind an ex attempting to add you on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp?
