Kloof and Highway SPCA promotes kindness to animals

The Kloof and Highway SPCA introduces Mr Knobbles to encourage the public to care for animals.

DURING World Animal Welfare Week, the Kloof and Highway SPCA is introducing their resident animals to their supporters and hopes that their stories will encourage others to care for all animals.

Today, Monday (October 7), marks the fifth day of World Animal Welfare Week (October 3–9). World Animal Day is also celebrated on October 4.

Kloof and Highway SPCA’s Brigitte Ferguson said this is a week dedicated to bringing awareness about all animals.

“The big, the small, the hairy, the eight-legged, the slithering, the wild, the scary, the cuddly, the sharp, the venomous, the winged, the finned – all animals matter!”

She reminded the public that they can support the Kloof and Highway SPCA by sponsoring a resident animal on a monthly basis.

Today, the SPCA introduced one of their cheekiest residents – Mr Knobbles.

“Mr Knobbles and his wife have been at the Kloof and Highway SPCA for 12 years, and he still gives us a good runaround if we are ‘in his space’! Unless you come bearing treats, you can expect him to give you a little chase with a ‘don’t come back here!’ look in his big eyes.

“Even though we cannot show our love (unless it’s via bribery), we love our Mr Knobbles and his fierce personality!” said Ferguson.

If you would like to meet Mr Knobbles – at a safe distance, of course, or make a monthly donation towards his care, email Brigitte at marketing@kloofspca.co.za.
