Lip-shade creator supports women’s health

A new cosmetic company is doing their bit to create awareness about the issues women are burdened with on a daily basis.

SEPTEMBER is synonymous with spring and newness. The month gives you those ‘out with the old, in with the new’ vibes, but that’s not all that happens.

It also lends itself to Liptember, an international campaign where bright lip colours are sported to help raise funds and awareness for women’s mental health issues.

That’s where Lipped SA comes in. It is the first custom lipstick company in the country that helps lipstick lovers create their own personalised lipstick shade, which, if they would like, they can wear those perfect shades in support of the Liptember movement.

Suraya Halifa, the branch manager of Durban, said that workshops are held at venues of choice throughout Durban.

“Each person is provided with all the materials needed to create a lipstick. We do a quick introduction, with some safety tips and instructions, together with a guide on how to create a specific shade – except for those who want to be creative and explore unusual shades. We’ve even had some create a green,” she said.

The most common shades requested for spring are pink nudes as well as peach nudes.

“There is a workshop coming up that is in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October), which we would love people to support,” he said.
