Two trucks crash on the M7 Durban-bound

The M7 Durban-bound has been cleared after two trucks collided in a serious crash which caused one of the truck drivers to be entrapped in his vehicle.

A TRUCK driver was severely entrapped after colliding with another truck on the M7 Durban-bound before the Hans Dettman off-ramp in Pinetown just after 12 on Monday (September 16). 

ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said they responded to a serious two-truck crash.

“Paramedics arrived on scene to find two trucks had collided in a serious accident. One of the drivers was severely entrapped in the wreckage, and immediately, rescue assistance was called in. The eThekweni Fire Department, together with the Redline Response Rescue Unit, used the Jaws of Life to cut the patient while Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to stabilise the man. Once freed, the patient was carefully extricated before being transported to a nearby hospital for the further care that he required,” he said. 

The scene was active for some time as recovery took place.

At this stage, the events leading up to the crash are unknown, however, SAPS and metro police were in attendance and will be investigating further.
