Westville resident shot in alleged home invasion

Emergency services and police attended to a Westville resident who was shot by intruders. An upper-body gunshot wound has him in critical condition.

A WESTVILLE resident is in critical condition after sustaining gunshot wounds in an alleged home invasion on Thursday afternoon (September 12).

ALS paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said they responded to numerous calls regarding a shooting in Baden Road. 

“Paramedics arrived on the scene to find SAPS and security personnel in attendance and were shown into a house. The homeowner, a male in his 50s, had allegedly been shot by intruders in his house.

“He had sustained a gunshot wound to his upper body and was in critical condition. Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to stabilise the man on the scene before rushing him to a nearby hospital for the further care that he required,” he said.

Jamieson said the exact circumstances leading up to the shooting are unknown and SAPS will be investigating.
