WINNERS of the Best of Durban Readers’ Choice Awards in the Crèche category, Care Bears Wonderland, treated their children to a party in celebration of their award.

The Best of Durban Readers’ Choice Awards is an initiative by Caxton Local Media where readers get to vote for their favourite local businesses and organisations in their neighbourhood.
As the voting lines were closed on July 22 with 429 503 votes cast, winners were announced, and Care Bears Wonderland in Pinetown took the Crèche category. The school hosted a fun day for the children, keeping a promise they made when they were nominated.
Care Bears Wonderland principal and owner Nila Ryan said the award is a reminder of her late husband’s wish to build the crèche.
“He had a passion for children, family and community. We started in 2006, and we have been growing from strength to strength. We started with 17 children and, now, have over 200 children in the school. We offer the community a safe place for their children where they can learn and play,” she said.

Ryan said she is grateful to the staff and her family who are instrumental in keeping the place running.
“We are also grateful to the community who have trusted us with their little ones,” she said.
