IIE’s Varsity College Ladies’ Hockey Team celebrates victory

The IIE’s Varsity College in Westville Ladies’ Hockey Team scored a total of 32 goals throughout the five-day championship.

THE IIE’s Varsity College in Westville Ladies’ Hockey Team celebrated a victory as they won the B-section, promoting them to the A-section at the recent University Sport South Africa (USSA) Hockey Championships.

The ladies dominated the field by winning all their games and scoring a total of 32 goals throughout the five-day championship.

Jessica Fletcher and Savannah-Anne Ferreira were awarded joint top goal scorers for the B-section.

“USSA was an exciting experience, and it was great to see how the team has grown over the last few months. We went into USSA with the mindset of doing it for the team and succeeded,” said the pair.

Varsity College’s sport coordinator Ndumiso Cele said the ladies look forward to training harder for 2025 where they are determined to win the A-section.

“It is a great honour for The IIE’s Varsity College to be a part of the annual USSA Championships. This year, our aim was to get our ladies promoted back into the A-section, and we did it! The IIE’s Varsity College Sport is taking huge strides, and we have recently shown, in various sporting codes, that we are at a new level,” he said.
