Comrades supporter hit by speeding car in Westville

Police are looking for anyone who may have information that can lead to the arrest of the suspect.

A CASE of reckless and negligent driving has been opened at Westville SAPS after a resident was hit by a driver who was speeding. The victim was transported to hospital and admitted to the intensive care unit.

According to reports from MobiClaw, a resident was walking to watch the Comrades Marathon (the ultimate human race) and while crossing Lancaster Road, a vehicle came at high speed and struck the victim. The driver of the vehicle then made a U-turn and sped away from the incident along Lancaster towards Westville Central.

Westville SAPS said the suspect’s vehicle is a white double-cab bakkie.

Police have appealed to any witnesses or people who have any information regarding the incident to come forward.
