Asher has a promising future in golf

The young golfer has been playing competitively since the age of four and a half.

GOLF sensation Asher Hollister is an SA Kids Golf star and recently won the Player of the Year award.

The 14-year-old essentially grew up with a golf club in hand, playing competitively since the age of four and a half. His remarkable journey includes achieving a 4-under-par round at the USA Kids Golf World Championships as well as an impressive level-par score on a par 72 at San Lameer Golf Estate.

As a member of SA Kids Golf since the tender age of five years old, the Kloof resident acknowledges the organisation’s important role in his golfing endeavours. Reflecting on winning the Player of the Year award for the previous season, he credits his consistent play and scores to his parents’ limitless support as well as the invaluable experiences gained through SA Kids Golf tournaments.

Representing the Kloof Country Club, the young champ has put the work in on his golf game over the years, and the results are clearly evident.

Taking his talents overseas, Asher describes the thrill of travel, meeting competitors and playing on extraordinary courses in the United States, Scotland and Mauritius. The Pinehurst No 1 course in North Carolina and the Heritage course in Mauritius rank among his favourites, alongside local gems like Gowrie, Cotswold Downs and Boshoek.

In the academic realm, the Kearsney College learner said he has particular interest and excels in Mathematics and Science.

When asked about his favourite food, he humourously declared a love for ‘all food’.

“I am very grateful to my parents for their unwavering support – they have made sacrifices to fuel my passion,” he said.

“As he continues to shine on the golf course, sports field and in the classroom, Asher remains a standout talent and a testament to the success fostered by SA Kids Golf. Keep an eye on this rising star as he drives towards a promising future in the world of junior golf“” said Catherine Telfer, director and treasurer of SA Kids Golf.
