Fatal accident leads to closure of M7

ALS Paramedics have advised motorists to drive with caution as more rain is expected in and around Durban.

A MULTI-VEHICLE accident has led to the closure of the M7.

According to ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson, paramedics are currently on the scene of a secondary fatal accident on the M7 Durban Bound before the N2. So far, they are aware of the death of a woman in her thirties.

He said multiple vehicles and trucks were involved, resulting in the M7 being closed.

Jamieson urges all motorists to please exercise extreme caution on the roads in the current wet weather Durban is experiencing.

“The weather forecast has predicted Level 5 rainfall today. Paramedics have already treated and transported multiple casualties as a result of multiple collisions.”

He mentioned the M7 between Pinetown and the Bluff, the M19 towards Reservoir Hills, the M13 going up towards Field’s Hill and the M4 South towards Edwin Swales Drive as the common hotspots.

“Paramedics would like to encourage everyone to ensure that their motor vehicles are in good condition with the tyres, headlights and windscreens wipers in good working condition.”
