How to stay safe on a busy beach day

The KZN Sharks Board shared safety tips that must be followed to ensure your day at the beach is fun and memorable.

WITH the festive season in full swing, many families are spending their down time at the beach.

The beach can be a fun place to spend the day, and enjoying the beach is probably a favourite summer activity for many, but it is important to follow safety rules and guidelines, especially on a busy beach day.

In an attempt to keep everyone safe on a busy beach day, the KZN Sharks Board shares some safety tips for the public. This applies to when you are on the sand or in the water.

Babalwa Mpaka, a public relations officer at KZN Sharks Board, advises the public to follow the lifeguards’ guidance and instructions. Mpaka explains: “Lifeguards or other beach patrol officers should be on duty. They make announcements over a loudspeaker or you can ask them about beach conditions.”

He highlighted that at the beach, it is important for the public to find and follow posted signs and flags for their safety.
