Meet your neighbours at New Germany fun-filled market

The Highway Market, which is held at the New Germany Sport Field every first Saturday of the month, is becoming a popular spot for residents.

THE community is invited to a market and fun-filled day at the New Germany Sport Club on Saturday, December 2, from 09:00 to 14:00.

The club’s manager, Harry Coetzee, said the Highway Market was recently started, and this will be the fourth one.

“Starting a market was a great way of giving back to the community. Times are tough, and the market creates opportunities for people to sell their items and earn that extra income,” he said.

One of the organisers, Bev McIntyre, said that by hosting the market, the public can also get unique handcrafted items at bargain prices.

“This is a chance to also get a Christmas gift for your loved one.” In addition, she said the market will bring the community together, and residents around New Germany will not have to travel far to go to a market.

“It will also be a nice day out, especially for the senior citizens who always look forward to the first Saturday of the month. People can also come and donate blood as the South African National Blood Services will be present,” said McIntyre.

On the day, there will also be a bring and braai for the community.

New Germany CPF chairperson Lynn Robson said residents from New Germany, Manors and Padfield are invited. She said this will be a perfect opportunity to meet and get to know your neighbours.

“It will be a fun day for everyone – there will even be a play area for the children,” she said.

The bring and braai will be from 12:00 midday. The club facilities will be available as well as a cash bar.

There is ample safe parking. The sport club is situated at 3 Harvey Road, off Broadway Street.
