Pinetown teen aims for top spot

Pinetown Girls' High School learner Esethu Ngcemu will represent KZN at Miss Teen Universe South Africa in March 2024.

HIGHWAY’S young model is passionate about giving back as she believes that it takes a village to raise a child.

At the tender age of 14, Esethu Ngcemu is very involved in community service and charity work. Her giving nature has earned her a spot in Miss Teen Universe South Africa.

The Pinetown Girls’ High School learner’s journey started in May when she attended the auditions where she was selected as a semi-finalist.

For a period of 13 weeks as semi-finalist, Esethu donated bed sheets, comforters, chips, biscuits and sweets to a daycare centre.

She visited old age homes, did beach clean-ups and joined forces with Robinhood Foundation in making sandwiches at Stokers Arms to support organisations in need.

“I would love to make a change where I can as I am very passionate about nature, education, the future of this country and the youth.

“To make this a reality, I would appreciate assistance from the community. I would appreciate any donations, such as sanitary towels, school shoes and school socks, to distribute to the needy,” Esethu said.

As a finalist, Esethu will be representing KwaZulu-Natal in the national pageant which will take place in March 2024 at Isibaya Casino.
