In just two short years, the Krantzkloof Trail Run has blossomed into a trail-running sensation, capturing the hearts of athletes and nature enthusiasts across the region.

“During its inaugural year, the honorary officers embarked on a journey to create an event like no other. The first-ever Krantzkloof Trail Run drew in participants eager to explore the unspoiled beauty of the reserve’s trails and the extended routes.

“With each step taken, runners discovered the thrill of challenging terrain, picturesque landscapes, and the joy of running alongside like-minded individuals,” said organiser Jenny Bosch.

As the event entered its second year, the trail run saw exponential growth in participation.

“The word spread about the electrifying experience, motivating even more runners to join the adventure. The Krantzkloof Trail Run became synonymous with a welcoming atmosphere, where seasoned athletes and novices could unite in their passion for the outdoors and a shared commitment to conservation.”

Making a Difference
Now, in its third year, Bosch said the Krantzkloof Trail Run is set to elevate the experience to new heights. Participants can look forward to a thrilling twist as the route is reversed, offering a fresh challenge to returning runners and a chance for newcomers to explore uncharted trails.

As always, the Forest Hills Sports Club will be the starting point and the epicentre of post-race celebrations. Nestled on the edges of Krantzkloof Nature Reserve, the club provides the perfect space for participants to gather, connect and share their triumphs.

Bosch said the Krantzkloof Trail Run is not just an opportunity for personal growth and adventure; it is also a beacon of hope for the conservation of Krantzkloof Nature Reserve. The event’s partnership with the honorary officers has enabled crucial funding for vital projects within the reserve.

Through every runner’s entry fee, the honorary officers can carry out essential initiatives, including trail maintenance, biodiversity preservation and environmental education programmes. Each participant becomes an agent of change, contributing directly to the protection of the very trails they tread upon.
