THE Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) held its first AACL fair at Heyhalfway Dealership in Hillcrest to raise funds for their rescue animals.

There were 45 stalls, including food, clothing, craft and pet accessories. There was also a kids’ zone with children’s activities and a jumping castle, and a dog section where animal lovers could meet some of the rescue dogs that were up for adoption, as well as enter their own dog in their fun competitions.

The fair will be hosted on the second Saturday of each month.

Animal Anti-Cruelty league is based on a beautiful farm in Hammarsdale at 53 Artesia Avenue, D567. They welcome visitors to their tea garden and charity shop, as well as to play with the cats in the cat haven and walk the dogs in the kennels.
The league was founded in 1959.

“We have been caring for and protecting animals in the greater Durban area ever since. Our main focus is on sterilisations of animals in poorer communities and the rehabilitation and rehoming of the cats and dogs in our care,” said AACL’s Catherine Phillips.
