Baby home receives generous donation

In keeping with the spirit of Mandela Day, Atholl Heights Primary School joined the Upper Highway Baby Home's World’s Biggest Baby Shower project.

ATHOLL Heights School families demonstrated phenomenal generosity for the World’s Biggest Baby Shower.

This is a project initiated by The Upper Highway Baby Home in Summerveld in order to collect baby goods for underprivileged babies and mothers.

The home is situated in the heart of Summerveld. It was started by Gary and Kerry Stanton and has been in operation since January 2019.

It cares for vulnerable and abandoned babies who need somewhere safe to stay and be loved and grow until they join their forever families or are reunited with their parents.

Helena Everett, the school principal’s PA, said the home set up the World’s Biggest Baby Shower project in keeping with the spirit of ‘Mandela Day 2023’.

“Atholl Heights Primary came on board with the project and began a two-week drive to collect donations. Our Atholl Heights families have, once again, been incredibly generous, and 67 black bags of baby items were donated to the home!”

Everett thanked all the children, parents and educators who got involved in the drive.

Kerry Stanton said they were overwhelmed by the number of donations they received, which they can now distribute to those in need.

“We wish to thank the school for their generosity,” she said.
