VIDEO: Elderly woman dies after fire breaks out at Queensburgh old age home

Malvern CPF chairman has appealed to the public to assist with food and blankets.

A WOMAN (92) has died after a fire broke out at Victory Moth Shellhole in Queensburgh early this morning, Monday, July 17.

Kevin Pillay, Malvern CPF chairman, said three units have been destroyed and about eight residents have been moved to a safe place after losing almost all their belongings to the fire.

Pillay said that although they are not certain why the fire occurred, there are reports that it was caused by a candle as there was a power outage in the area.
