Stapleton and Caversham roads closed once again due to heavy rain
Residents around Pinetown are trying to pick up the pieces after the damages caused by last night's heavy rain.
THE heavy rains wreaked havoc in Durban, including some of the Highway areas.
Stapleton Road in Pinetown and Caversham Road were also flooded and remain closed. Currently, there is work underway as they are trying to fix the damage caused.
It was reported that a car rolled over onto Stapleton Bridge.

This is not the first time that these roads are flooded as whenever there are heavy rains, they are closed. In May last year, a part of Caversham Road that was washed away by the April floods was again damaged only a few days after it was repaired.
Stapleton Road has been problematic for many years and is one of the most frequently used roads in the Pinetown area.
In 2019, the road was damaged by heavy rains and that led to its closure for a couple of months, causing havoc and inconvenience for motorists.
Some of the properties along Stapleton Road were also flooded.
This morning, homeowners were busy trying to clear the rubble and soil on their driveways.
“We also faced a similar situation like with the April floods – we do not even have electricity and water. The last time there were floods, we were left with no electricity for 24 days. I truly hope we do not have to experience that again,” he said.
Another resident in Bradley Place whose fence was washed away said this was the first time that his pool is filled with mud.
“This must have been a heavy rain as the last one did not cause this damage in my yard,” he said.
