Enjoy family outing at dog show

The Natal Sporting Hound Association Club is an old KwaZulu-Natal club. It was established in August 1983, and this year is the club’s 40th birthday anniversary.

The club’s Candice Purcell said all the dogs that are entered in this show, and for the rest of the weekends shows, are KUSA registered with the Kennel Union of Southern Africa.

“All will be competing for various titles; some of these include Best Baby Puppy in Show, Best Puppy in Show, Best Junior in Show, Best Veteran in Show and Best Neuter in Show, and the ultimate title is Best in Show,” she said.

Natal Terrier Club, Natal Gundog Club, The Golden Retriever Club of KZN, and the Natal Working and Hearding Association will also be hosting their Championship Shows on Friday.

“At all three of the above shows, Child and Junior Handling will be offered. This allows the youth of the Dog Show world to compete against each other in their specific age groups with their show dogs.

“On-site catering will be available the whole weekend, as well as various dog shops selling beds, leads, toys and more to entertain your four-legged baby,” said Purcell.

She encouraged the public to come through and have a look at some well-bred dogs of all shapes and sizes.

“Bring the family for an outing and chat to breeders about their dogs and all the various pros and cons, and maybe add your name to a waiting list or two. We may see you at our next annual Championship Dog Show, competing for the title of Best in Show,” said Purcell.
