Scout Group flips to success

It was a successful fundraiser for the 1st Pinetown Scout Group as they moved closer to their goal of raising funds to replace the fence around their grounds.

THE 1st Pinetown Scout Group held a successful pancake fundraiser on Saturday, May 27 at KWIKSPAR Hattons. The local Scout Group has been working towards raising funds to replace the fence around their grounds, and this event moved them even closer to their goal. Gail Osborne of the Scout Group extended her gratitude to the community that came out to support them.

“A fun morning was had by all. The fast-selling pancakes were a hit with local shoppers, with many waiting patiently in the queue for their freshly made pancakes. KWIKSPAR Hattons kindly agreed to let the Scout Group sell from their premises and also generously donated the ingredients for the pancake batter. Parents and leaders made up the mix and did the cooking while the Scouts, Cubs and Meerkats helped with the pancake filling and promoted their group to shoppers,” she said.

She further called on parents to be part of their club.

“Scouting changes lives and helps children and young adults to reach their full potential. Leadership abilities, teamwork, self-motivation, perseverance, environmental and cultural awareness, and strong values are just a few of the life skills the children acquire while having fun and ‘learning by doing’. Children are welcome to join for a few meetings to see if they enjoy it before signing up.”

Meetings are held on a Friday at the 1st Pinetown Scout Hall in Hoogvorst Road. More information can be obtained from the following contact details:
