Security officers injured in an alleged cash-in-transit

Police are investigating an alleged cash-in-transit heist and explosion where three security officers were injured.

THREE security officers sustained various injuries after an alleged cash-in-transit heist as well as an explosion on Dumisani Makhaye Road just before 19:00 on Wednesday evening.

ALS Paramedics Medical Services, together with Netcare 911, reported that they arrived on the scene to find that SAPS was already in attendance. 

“The three occupants of the security vehicle had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate and were stabilised on scene by Advanced Life Support Paramedics before being transported to a nearby Durban hospital for the further treatment that they required,” they said. 

At this stage, the events leading up to the incident are unknown, however, SAPS and other role-players were on the scene and will be investigating further.
