Upper Highway area clear during National Shutdown

There have been no reports of protest action in the Highway area.

IT is business as usual in the Upper Highway area, even as the planned National Shutdown is taking place today. There have been no police reports of protest actions in the area. The area is clear with police presence and clear roads.

The eThekwini Municipality has also assured the city of their safety, saying measures have been implemented to ensure the safety of residents.

“The City assures the public that all roads in eThekwini are clear and safe for motorists to use. The Metro Police is out in full force to guard against any criminal activity and lawlessness.

“The Metro Police, South African Police Service, and other law enforcement agencies are ready to respond swiftly to any reported disruptions,” stated the City.

They further confirmed that there have been no reports of looting or violent protests reported. Regular updates will be provided throughout the day.
