“If we can all have that mentality of cleaning around us, the world would be a better place. The litter strewn all over our roads and communities is alarming,” she said.

For Ngonelo, working outside and in the garden is a form of therapy and a way to de-stress.

On Friday, February 24, Ngonelo, together with the Act of Obedience Ministries congregants, took to the streets to pick up litter.

Mam Thandie Ngonelo is passionate about cleanliness.

“We host clean-ups around New Germany CBD at least two times a year, but we clean up our surroundings all the time. Cleanliness is next to godliness, which is the reason we keep our surroundings clean. We never start the church service without picking up litter from the street around the church.

“If we can encourage people to adopt a spot and clean it regularly, New Germany will be a very clean area,” she said.
