The Highway Hospice appeals for useable donations

The Highway Hospice is asking the public to donate good quality reusable goods.

THE Highway Hospice charity shop in Pinetown is appealing to the public to assess their donations as they need to be useable. The Highway Hospice said they are grateful to the community for their donations but have since noted that most of the donated items have to be thrown away as they cannot be used.

“We appreciate donations, but we would like to emphasise that the items need to be in good condition as they need to be reusable as the hospice makes money from selling the items. Our bins are always full of donations that cannot be used,” they said.

The hospice said that even though they do not have the in-care unit anymore, their caregivers are still available for house calls. “We still need to raise funds to keep other campaigns running. We deliver food parcels for patients, and we look after child-headed homes. We have nursing staff, and a daycare centre at Chesterville where we also provide meals,” they said.

The hospice invited people to join the good cause and volunteer at the Hospice. They are asked to contact 031 701 4726 or 031 709 2647.
