Condolences pour in for Highway stalwart

Lilian Develing passed away last Friday, December 2.

LILIAN Develing, a woman known for fighting for people’s rights, passed away last Friday.

Develing died at the age of 87.

She was the long-time chairperson of the Hillcrest Ratepayers Association.

The Hillcrest Ratepayers Association was founded in 1985, and consisted of a small group of people who formed a watch-dog brief working with the then Hillcrest Town Board.

She was married to the late Paddy Develing.

One of her close friends, John Forbes, said he got to know Lilian when he worked as a town planner many years ago.

“She was a real fighter, a very active chairperson who fought for the community.

“Although we clashed sometimes, we ended up being the best of friends. She will be sorely missed,” said Forbes.
