Sought-after suspects found in Westville

Investigations are underway after two suspects were caught with stolen property in Westville.

TWO sought-after suspects appeared at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court for robbery and possession of stolen property. The two suspects were spotted by a Mobi Claw officer during his travels.

“Our Ops Director recognised two wanted suspects during his travels, he called for backup, and two nearby MC911 volunteer responders joined him moments later and detained the suspects. SAPS and Metro Police attended the scene. The suspects were found in possession of two knives and a suspected stolen bank card,” said Wynand Laatz of Mobi Claws.

Laatz said the suspects have been linked to a case of armed robbery and assault with grievous bodily harm (GBH), where the victim was stabbed. The suspects were handed over to SAPS where they are being processed, and an investigation will follow.

Attesting to the incident, Westville SAPS communications officer Captain Elizabeth Squires said, “On Friday, November 11, at midday, a vigilant member of the community spotted two African males whom he recognised as being circulated as suspects for a robbery that took place on a local bridge in Westville. He called for backup and the police when he spotted the two males. Upon searching the two males, they were found in possession of an Okapi knife, other knives and various bank cards. The victim was traced and positively identified the suspects.”

Squires said the Westville detectives are investigating a case of robbery and possession of stolen property.
