Remember the fallen on Poppy Day

Members from the SA Legion and MOTHs will be selling poppies in malls across the Highway area to raise funds for those in need who served in uniform.

TO commemorate Poppy Day on Saturday, November 12, MOTHs and members of the SA Legion will be selling poppies in shopping malls across the Highway area.

Remembrance Day has been commemorated since the end of World War I, every year, on November 11.

SA Legion, assisted by various former servicemen’s organisations such as the MOTH’s, will be at various shopping centres in the upper and lower Highway areas: Hillcrest, Farmer’s Market, Waterfall, Kloof, Pinetown and Westville.

“We will be promoting donations for a poppy to be worn with pride in remembrance of those who died in battle. The money goes to those in need who have served in uniform,” said Gordon Harrower of the Highway Shellhole and the SA Legion.

The cost per poppy is a donation of any amount. To assist with selling poppies to the public, contact Gordon at 082 881 3032 or SA Legion’s Bryan Dore on 076 814 6177.
