A chance to spend quality time with your pet

The Upper Highway community is invited to the Spooky Paw Trails and adoption day.

PET owners and their pets are called to gear up for the Spooky Paw Trails and adoption day. Set to take place on October 29, this pet event is hosted by the Blue Bundu Brigade Animal Rescue and Rehoming in collaboration with the Superdogs Training School.

Situated in the countryside of Assagay, Hillcrest, the pet rescue organisation has served the greater Durban community for the past three years. They rescue, rehabilitate and rehome dogs, and cats and birds on the odd occasion, too.
The Spooky Paw Trails and adoption day will be a fun walk for pet owners and their pet/s as well as a fancy dress keeping in line with Halloween. The day will also provide an opportunity to adopt.

Shedding some light on the day, Karen Janish of the Blue Bundu Brigade Animal Rescue and Rehoming said: “[It’s a] special day to spend quality time with your pet. Keeping in line with the celebrations of Halloween, we will be looking out for the best-dressed ‘couple’. The fun walk will take place on the beautiful farm directly opposite the Mushroom Farm. Please follow signboards. 450 Kaiser Road, Assagay, Hillcrest.”

Janish said the day will be filled with other fun events. “There will be a jumping castle and face-painting for the children. We will have stalls where you can shop for your pet and even treat yourself. We will have food and refreshments for sale, including vegan foods. Prosper, the Pet Groomer, will be available to wash and groom your pet. To book appointments, please contact Prosper via 079 095 6973,” she said.

Janish pleaded with the community to visit their puppies and young dogs who need homes on the day. “They can be viewed at Superdogs. Adoption forms can be filled in, and dogs will be booked until the adoption process is completed. The adoption process needs to be followed, including a home check and introductions with existing dogs. No dog will be taken home on the day,” she explained.

She continued to insist that all pets partaking in the walk need to be well-socialised, friendly and placed on a leash or harness. No dogs will be allowed to enter if not on a leash or harness.
She warned also that the venue is a farm so roads have not been made to accommodate heavy traffic. Please be patient and considerate while driving on the premises.
Entry cost is R100 per person. Children under the age of 12 years enter free.
