Choirs due to perform at Kloof church

An exciting performance of choral music is taking place at the Kloof Methodist Church this weekend.

THE Kloof Methodist Choir and the Williams Saints Ladies Choir are due to present a Feast of Choral Music at Kloof Methodist Church on Sunday, October 16. The choirs will present choral favourites for the audience.

The Williams Saints Ladies Choir will present Adiemus by Karl Jensen, Eli Eli, an Israeli folk song accompanied by two cellos, The Rose by Amanda McBroom, a Beatles medley and Always Remember Us This Way from the film, A Star is Born. The choir is directed by Ronel Laidlaw-Perks and accompanied by Priscilla Crundwell on the piano.

The Kloof Methodist Choir will perform Bring Him Home and I Dreamed a Dream from Les Misérables by Schönberg. Also Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton; Sentimental Journey, as originally sung by Doris Day; Some Enchanted Evening from the musical South Pacific; Sunrise Sunset from Fiddler on the Roof; Love Me Tender by Elvis Presley, and You’ll Never Walk Alone from the film Carousel. The choir is directed by Tony Olds, with Priscilla Crundwell as accompanist on the piano.

The two choirs will combine to end the performance with some powerful pieces such as Laudate Dominum by Mozart with Heather Dickson as soloist; Plea for Africa with Sylvia Tempest as soloist, and Be Still My Soul, based on Jean Sibelius’ Finlandia.

Both choirs have been active on the concert platform for many years. Kloof Methodist Choir is regarded as an anchor within their church community, enhancing every sermon with beautiful voices. The Williams Saints Choir delight audiences with a zesty, lively approach to their music.

Tickets: Free but donations are welcome for KidzAid (children affected by AIDS).
