From a counselling course and a Women’s night out to live music by the band Appel, there is enough to choose from this weekend in Durban.

Women’s Institute

Pinelands/Pinetown Women’s Institute will meet on Thursday, 6 October from 09:00 for 09:30, at the Presbyterian Church Hall on Maurice Nichols Road, Pinetown. All Welcome. Visitors to pay R10 for tea.

A demonstration will be given on how to cook with an air fryer.

The Open Door Crisis Care Centre Counselling Course

The course duration is eight weeks, beginning Saturday, October 1. It is a must for lay counsellors, neighbourhood watch volunteers, educators and community workers who are involved with men, women and children who are facing challenges in their homes or schools – or anyone wishing to improve their own life skills in dealing with conflict, work and social-related problems.

The course offers psychology students hands-on training and is recommended by lecturers in various universities and colleges. The course is aligned to the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) standards and teaches basic counselling skills, dealing with conflict and addressing social issues of rape, domestic violence and child abuse, as well as training on various Acts and Bills, including the Sexual Offences Act, the Domestic Violence Bill, the Children’s Act, the Trafficking in Persons Act.

Ladies’ Club Meeting

The Wandsbeck Ladies’ Club of Westville will be meeting at the Westville Bowling Club on Thursday, October 6 at 09.30. There will be a talk by Adrian Rowe from the Highway Historical Society on early transportation between Durban and Pinetown. Refreshments will be served.
