Supporting local artists

The Hillcrest Aids Centre is calling on the community to support a local artist by bidding on his artwork displayed at the Woza Moya Gallery.

THE Hillcrest Aids Centre (HACT) is happy to welcome Peace Ndimande’s art piece to their Woza Moya Gallery. Ndimande is a Durban artist from Dassenhoek in Mariannhill. The 30-year-old studied fine arts at the Durban University of Technology.

He is also a member of Amasosha Art Movement which is a collective of Durban and surrounding artists that promotes solidarity and sharing of ideas amongst the artists.

His artwork, Umuntu, umuntu ngabantu, A person is a person because of people, is featured on the artists’ wall.

Paula Thompson of the HACT said a selection of other works by Ndimande is up in the Woza Moya Gallery for the month of September, and the public is invited to support the artist by bidding on his artwork from R1 500 upwards.

“If you would like to support Peace Ndimande, we have this painting as a greeting card, and fifty percent of the profit goes to the artist,” said Thompson.
