25 years of teaching and learning

Wyebank creche and Pre-School is happy to have been serving the community for the past 25 years.

THE Wyebank Crèche and Preschool community reflected on happy memories as they celebrated their 25th anniversary. The institution was celebrated for the role it has played in the community since its inception in 1997.

Founder Ralph Moothalugan said the success of the institution is due to all the contributors in the past 25 years. “Over the 25 years of our existence, thousands of our children would have passed through the portals of the crèche. These children were exposed to a comprehensive programme to develop their cognitive, emotional, social and physical skills. The building of a community crèche does not guarantee success on its own; it requires the dedication and commitment of the community,” he said.

The principal Ivey Govender said they have been happy to serve the community as the crèche has been a beacon of hope for many parents who have had children from two to five years.

“These children could now attend a crèche and preschool that offered teaching and learning in line with requirements of the Department of Basic Education.

“Parents play a vital role in the development of their children by attending parents’ meetings and getting involved through the parents’ committee. They see to it that the programmes are carried out in the best interest of the children. By paying school fees timeously and regularly, they contribute to the growth of the crèche,” she said.

The institution hosted a celebration in honour of their 25 years. The celebration hosted Brian Nair, former councillor of Wyebank, whom the school said was instrumental in securing the funding of the crèche as well as all the staff members.
