Hillcrest High School successfully raises funds

Hillcrest High School hosted an event to raise funds for their Angel Fund aimed to help learners who are financially challenged.

BIDDING farewell to women’s month and welcoming spring, Hillcrest High School (HHS) hosted the Angel Fund ladies’ event. According to the school, the Angel Fund was set up to assist students in financial need and has been run successfully over a number of years by teachers in charge, Sharmila Kowlesur and Carol Edy.

Guests were treated to a buffet breakfast and listened to a talk by guest speaker, Matthew Willman. The funds were raised through lucky draws that were sponsored by their partners.

The school commended the learners who were ambassadors of the fund for a job well done and for making their teachers proud.

“We want to thank every person who contributed to the success of the day, as well as the guests themselves, who unfailingly support this event. They dressed to impress and generously bought goods on sale and tickets for prizes.

“We are grateful for their support. We must also thank and acknowledge all the HHS ground staff and the team of kitchen helpers. A lot of hard work goes on behind the scenes to set up and clear after an event. This was an amazing event in aid of a worthy cause,” said Kowlesur and Edy.
