Parents’ Talk for LGBTQI+ families planned for this weekend
An informative talk for parents of LGBTQI+ youth is to be held this Saturday in Hillcrest. The event will inform, educate and challenge misconceptions and stereotypes.
PARENTS’ Talk is taking place this Saturday in Hillcrest and aims to educate parents on what to do when their child ‘comes out’.
The event will cover topics such as understanding LGBTQI+ youth, challenging misconceptions and stereotyping, and a Q and A session for parents will be offered.
Parents’ Talk is hosted by non-profit organisation Same Love Toti which provides support to LGBTQI+ and their families.
“This can be a challenging time for parent and child, so it is important to be well-informed and to offer unconditional love to the child. We cut through misconceptions and provide reliable information for LGBTQI+ youth and their families. It’s our job as parents to support our children so that they can thrive and realise their full potential, and be the best that they can be,” says Kim Lithgow, CEO of Same Love Toti.
