Rotary Club of Hillcrest welcomes new president

The well-known charitable organisation welcomes Ian Bayley as the president for 2022.

THE Rotary Club of Hillcrest hosted their 52nd Induction Dinner on Monday, August 1.

The 2022 president, Ian Bayley, was inducted at a formal dinner held at Club De Vie, Le Domaine Estate.

District governor Gavin Jepson addressed the attendees on the impact of Rotary Clubs in communities. Outgoing president Imelda Haarhoff reported on the previous year, presented awards to deserving members and inducted new members into the club. Representatives from Fulton School for the Deaf, Hillcrest High School and the Hillcrest AIDS Center Trust attended.

Haarhoff said the project, which involved women empowerment, was the highlight of her time as president of the Rotary Club of Hillcrest.

“Our Empowering Young Women Programme was a rewarding project to lead. Due to this, 22 scholars from the Upper Highway area are now better prepared to make the right choices for their futures. The programme ran over five Saturday mornings and included content on career counselling, employment preparedness, entrepreneurship, personal financial management, and educated attendees on physical and mental health issues,” she said.
