As we look to the future, RBM is continuing to invest in projects that will ensure its long-term presence in the region and meaningfully contribute to host communities for many more years to come. The Zulti South project, suspended since 2019, is one such investment.

If approved, the Zulti South project is not just about mining, it represents our shared vision for growth and prosperity and will support the Government’s plan to grow the economy, create jobs and improve the livelihoods of South Africans.  

Did you know?

• The pilot plant being trialled by RBM is a small-scale modular plant. Its operation will focus on mining ore on a small scale.
• The construction of the pilot plant is expected to take approximately six months and will assist RBM in seeking approval for the investment of the full-scale Zulti South project, which remains suspended.
• Building projects like Zulti South takes time and, as we have previously communicated, requires approval, careful planning and execution. Some benefits will be realised immediately, while others will be unlocked over a longer period.
• The products produced by RBM are used in everyday life…
  • Zircon is mainly used in ceramics like tiles and crowns
  • Rutile is primarily used in paints, toothpaste and sunscreens. It is also used in the production of (titanium) metal for aerospace.
