The eager pack of cubs met and quickly befriended Gen Jampel, the resident teacher and a Buddhist monk. Gen Jampel shared valuable lessons on developing outer and inner skills to control their minds and find peace during challenging times.

“The boys learned about the daily lives of Buddhist monks and nuns. They discovered that they could learn to control their minds, cultivate peace and happiness, and eventually help others do the same. We further engaged in a fun game of broken telephone, passing a secret message of peace among themselves. When the message returned to the meditation room, it was notably different. This exercise highlighted the importance of improving concentration and memory.”

Gen Jampel explained that meditation is an effective way to achieve this, and the group was eager to try. They participated in a simple breathing meditation guided by Gen Jampel.

The boys left with a newfound superpower – inner peace – and a desire to strengthen it.
