St Mary’s DSG Kloof Old Girls reunite to share memories

The St Mary's Old Girls were happy to re-unite and create more memories.

A DAY of nostalgia unfolded at St Mary’s DSG Kloof as 170 old girls gathered to reminisce about their time at the school. The day’s events held on campus included tours down memory lane and a chapel service featuring past Heads of Chapel.

According to Old Girls’ administrator Lauren Rapson, the nostalgia was palpable, leaving many teary-eyed as they revisited their past.
“The Old Girls were thrilled to reconnect with honorary staff who taught them, and large groups celebrated special reunion years. A remarkable highlight was honouring three Old Girls from the Class of 1954 – Hazel Bramley nee Mitchell, Patricia Meyer nee McLeod and Wendy McHardy nee Deal – as they celebrated their 70th school reunion.

Hazel and Patricia, who met as eight-year-olds on their way to St Mary’s for the first time, fondly recalled their boarding experiences, which were vastly different from those of today’s girls,” she said.

The trio thoroughly enjoyed the occasion, marking their 70th reunion. Wendy reflected on the day, saying, “It was a happy and loving day that brought back many fond memories. I’m grateful to St Mary’s for teaching me to love myself and, in doing so, love and care for others. I’m proud to be a St Mary’s girl.”
The day concluded with the ladies departing with lifted spirits and cherished memories.
